Detoxification from alcohol and other drugs and
client stabilization is the first step toward recovery from drug
addiction and alcoholism. Seminole Behavioral Healthcare ensures that detoxification is
safe and humane for each client. Expert medical and clinical staff,
a safe supportive environment, and introduction to the principles
of recovery are key to a successful, comfortable detoxification
experience.
Detoxification is designed to support clients
during withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs and usually lasts
3-5 days. Detoxification clients are assessed and continually monitored
by qualified, experienced staff 24 hours a day. A detailed medical
history and health examination is completed on each client admitted
to our services. Staff physicians ensure that each client is prescribed
any necessary detoxification medications. During the detoxification
period we make every effort to engage the client in longer-term
treatment to support ongoing abstinence.
Seminole Behavioral Healthcare encourages individuals to take this first
step toward the recovery process. While it is preferred that admission
to these services be made voluntarily, Seminole Behavioral Healthcare is able to accept
those individuals referred involuntarily through the Marchman Act
for stabilization, assessment and treatment.

Each year the disease of chemical dependence
affects more than 20 million Americans, their families, friends
and employers. Without proper treatment, the prognosis is poor
for those suffering from drug addiction; the body deteriorates,
the mind is damaged, the spirit is crushed and the family often
destroyed. Prevention, identification and treatment of this disease
are critical to the process of recovery and remission.
Our treatment philosophy is based on the belief
that treatment of the being as a whole - mind, body and spirit,
is necessary to successfully confront and arrest the progressive
disease of chemical dependency. Experience has shown us that a
combination of expert counseling and medical staff, a strong network
of support and active involvement in the recovery community is
the most effective way to treatment of chemical dependency.
